DocTerra Mobile Veterinary Services, PLLC strives to be a premiere mobile veterinary practice by building a reputation of integrity and professionalism while providing the utmost care for all of God’s creatures. We will build relationships with clients and community through honesty and teamwork, creating happier, healthier and longer lives for our pets.
Terra Stines Smith, DVM
Dr. Terra is a graduate of North Carolina State University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2015. She grew up on a small horse farm in Lincoln County, NC. She was home-schooled and began working in a mixed animal veterinary hospital as a junior in high school. Upon graduation Dr. Terra attended Gaston College where she received her veterinary technician degree. After working as a vet tech for several years, she returned to school to fulfill her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. Terra enjoys all areas of veterinary medicine, but especially enjoys working with small ruminants and horses. She lives on her family’s farm with her husband, Brad, twin boys, Harrison and Hudson, daughter, Heidi, and 4 horses, 2 miniature donkeys, 3 dogs, 3 cats, 6 chickens and 2 pot-bellied pigs. She participates annually in a short-term mission trip with Christian Veterinary Mission, serving the Navajo Nation in Sanders, AZ, and enjoys sharing her love for Christ with others through veterinary medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Terra enjoys riding her horses, camping, participating in church activities and spending time with family and friends.
Melanie R. Martin, DVM
Dr. Melanie is a 2020 graduate of NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. Originally born in White Plains, NY, Dr. Melanie was raised in Charlotte, NC where she split her days between school, softball, and horseback riding. She then spent four years at the University of Notre Dame earning a degree in biology and becoming a very passionate Fighting Irish football fan!
Dr. Melanie's favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are treating horses and goats and walking beside the people who care for them. She especially loves working with the Navajo and Yup'ik tribes of Arizona and Alaska through Christian Veterinary Mission.
When Dr. Melanie is not working with animals, you can find her hiking, biking with her husband Luke, or doing pretty much any outdoor activity!
Christian Williams, DVM
Dr. Christian graduated in 2024 from North Carolina State University with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She is a Lincolnton, NC native who grew up with interests ranging from music and theater to math and science. During high school, she decided to pursue a career in the veterinary field. After graduating with degrees from Gaston Community College and North Carolina State University, she returned to Raleigh, NC to attend veterinary school.
Out of the many areas of veterinary medicine she has experienced, her favorite is working with small ruminants. She also loves serving on mission trips to the island of St. Croix and the Cherokee nation in Western North Carolina through Christian Veterinary Mission.
When she’s not working, Christian loves to serve at her church and spend time with her family. She loves doing anything outdoors but especially enjoys hiking, kayaking, and fishing.
Michael Stines, Veterinary Assistant
Michael is Dr. Terra's brother. He is a certified NC Firefighter and veterinary assistant. He assists Dr. Terra with animal care as well as appointment scheduling and other daily business management tasks.
Michael grew up in Lincoln County, NC on the family farm. He was homeschooled and graduated from high school in May 2016. He completed his NC Firefighter Certification in January 2017. Michael has gained animal care and veterinary experience through helping Dr. Terra with all of their own pets, as well as assisting her on routine and emergency farm/house calls. He has a caring nature and a love for animals and people.
In his free time, Michael enjoys working out, automobile detailing, drawing, hanging out with friends and participating in church activities.
Jim Stines, Designer/Maintenance Manager
Jim is Dr. Terra's dad, and the master mind behind the creation and maintenance of DocTerra Mobile’s clinics. He ensures that our doctors get to you and your pets safely and have all of the resources they need when they arrive. He has been known to assist Dr. Terra on farm/house calls as well. While he did not grow up with many animals, he greatly enjoys spending time with them and when not working can be found with a dog in his lap or begging him for a snack. They know who gives the most treats!
Jim is a retired, self-employed carpenter and builder. His primary focus was on home remodeling, but he thoroughly enjoyed designing and building new structures as well. He has a very creative and engineering mind and enjoys using that talent to serve others.
In his free time, Jim enjoys working on projects around the farm and spending time with family. His current project is remodeling a Class A motorhome! His dream is to travel the country providing building and repair services in disaster relief areas and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Tristan Blair, Office Manager
Tristan is Dr. Terra’s sister. She grew up in Lincoln County and now lives in Galivants Ferry, SC with her husband Brandon and 3 children, Southern, Willow, and Gunner. She is a stay at home mom who spends her time keeping up with the kids and their activities and caring for the many animals they have on their farm including horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats. She enjoys drinking coffee, watching Hallmark with her Great Dane “Rodeo”, horseback riding, and spending time with all of her animals.
Tristan is our full time practice manager, manages the clinic’s social media accounts, takes photos at DocTerra Mobile's events and assists with other clerical work as needed. She is the photographer of the awesome animal graphics on the clinic as well!
Karson Dean, Veterinary Assistant
Karson is a 2023 Gardner -Webb Biology graduate, and will soon be an Appalachian State Veterinary Technologist graduate in 2025. Sko Dawgs and Roll Neers!
Karson was born and raised in the small town of Dallas, NC, and has spent most of her life there. Her love for veterinary medicine and all things animal was first discovered at a very young age when she fell in love with catching lizards and frogs. This love for animals quickly flourished into a passion and deep calling to help those who could not speak for themselves. This desire along with growing up with a wide variety of pets, from fish, dogs, and cats, to even ball pythons, drove her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Throughout high school, Karson picked up numerous pet-sitting gigs and eventually got her first job as a kennel tech at a local clinic in Gastonia. During her time at Gardner-Webb, Karson was a part of the Equestrian Club where she held the leadership positions of secretary and treasurer. Being a part of this club allowed her to pursue her desire to work and ride horses while in college.
In her free time, Karson enjoys drawing, painting, going to concerts, watching movies, horseback riding, spending time with friends, and volunteering at church. She spends most of her free time attending different life groups at church and co-leading a small group of high school girls on Wednesday nights. Karson has one dog of her own, Toby (who was named after Toby Keith), and six ball python snakes (Gracie, Buttercup, Pebbles, Bam Bam, Bullet, and Batman). With the addition of a crested gecko, named Echo, who will be coming soon.
Destiny Lambert, Veterinary Assistant
Destiny grew up on a small farm in Belwood, NC where tending animals of many different kinds became her passion. She graduated in 2023 from Burns High School where she played a role in FFA for 7 years traveling to compete in dairy evaluation, hog, sheep, goat, and cattle evaluation, land judging, forestry judging and even cattle showing.
Destiny is currently working towards becoming a Registered Vet Tech at Gaston College. She enjoys traveling, photography, hiking, fishing, hunting, camping at the lake, spending time with her family and boyfriend, and spoiling her dogs (Remington, Bleu, Dually, and Poncho). Her favorite part of the job is the livestock appointments and when new life is welcomed into the world.
Terri Stines, Receptionist
Terri is Dr. Terra's mom, a part-time receptionist for DocTerra Mobile. She also handles some of the business end of the practice and helps Dr. Terra on calls when needed. Terri has had a love for animals since she was a child and never missed an opportunity to care for them. Her dad was a hunter, so not only did she have a pack of hunting dogs to look after, but she also tried to tame any animal her dad would bring home, including alligators, opossums and foxes. She also had a pet monkey for a while. Now she enjoys caring for the farm animals and her sweet Chorkies, Annie and Sadie.
Terri was a homeschool teacher for 25 years, with the youngest of 5 children graduating in 2016. Since retiring from homeschooling, she has become a Wellness Advocate for doTERRA Essential Oils and thoroughly enjoys teaching others how to live a healthier life with essential oils and other natural supplements.
In her free time, Terri enjoys cooking and baking, participating in church activities and spending time with her family and friends. She has 6 beautiful grandkids and looks for every opportunity to spend with them!
Brad Smith, Information Technology Manager
Brad is a certified computer technician, certified NC Firefighter/EMT and registered nurse. He manages all of the technological areas of DocTerra Mobile, and assists Dr. Terra with animal care as needed. He grew up in Dorchester County, SC. Upon graduation from high school he entered the US Marine Corps where he served for 4 years as a radio operator during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then worked as a computer technician at the Citadel Military College in Charleston, SC until he and Dr. Terra married and moved back to Dr. Terra’s family farm.
Brad is a dedicated and compassionate nurse and firefighter, but also enjoys taking care of the farm, helping Dr. Terra on calls, and working on all of the electronic gadgets he can get his hands on. Brad has also participated in several short-term mission trips with Dr. Terra through Christian Veterinary Missions and enjoys using his talents to share Christ with others.
In his free time, Brad enjoys participating in church activities, singing and playing guitar and volunteering with the local fire department.
